EU trade mark
registration.
One application. One fee. Protection across all 27 EU member states — including Ireland. An EU trade mark is the most cost-effective way to protect your brand across Europe.
An EU trade mark (EUTM) is registered with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) in Alicante, Spain. A single application covers all 27 EU member states simultaneously — Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden.
For any business trading or intending to trade in the EU, the EUTM is almost always the right choice. It provides broader protection at a lower per-country cost than filing separately in multiple national offices.
The EUIPO uses a unitary system: if the application is refused, it is refused for the entire EU. This is why a thorough clearance search and expert specification drafting matter — a well-prepared application has the best chance of proceeding to registration without objection.

Clearance Search
We search EUIPO, IPOI and relevant national registers for conflicting earlier marks. Essential before any application is filed.
Class & Specification
Class selection and specification drafting are critical in an EU application. The EUIPO examines absolute grounds only — relative grounds are for opponents to raise during the opposition period.
Application Filed
Filed online with EUIPO. The €850 official fee (1 class) is paid within one month of filing. A filing receipt and number is issued.
Examination
EUIPO examines for formal requirements and absolute grounds. Any office actions are responded to on your behalf.
Publication & Opposition
If accepted, the application is published in the EUTM Bulletin. A three-month opposition period follows. Any opposition is handled directly.
Registration
On completion of the opposition period, the EUTM is registered. You receive a certificate covering all 27 EU member states for 10 years.
