Direct access to a
qualified specialist.

Many online trade mark services use non-specialist staff or refer work to third-party agents. At trademark.irish, all work is handled directly by William Crean — a Registered Trade Mark Agent licensed since 2006, with 90+ filings across the Irish and EU registers.

As a solicitor admitted in Ireland, England & Wales, and California, William can also advise on enforcement, licensing, and international matters where trade mark protection intersects with broader commercial law.

Common
questions.

Most clients are new to trade mark registration. These are the questions we hear most often. For a full list, visit the FAQ page.

ALL FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS →

Do I need an Irish trade mark if I already have an EU trade mark?

Generally, no. An EU trade mark covers all 27 member states, including Ireland. A separate Irish filing is only needed in specific circumstances — we advise on this during the clearance and strategy stage.

How long does registration take?

Approximately 8–12 months for both Irish and EU marks in a straightforward case, once a three-month opposition period passes without challenge.

Can I do it myself without an agent?

You can file directly, but errors in class selection or the specification of goods and services are common — and difficult to correct after filing. A fixed-fee agent service typically costs less than resolving a badly-filed application.
